What, How, and Why

Welcome to the MA Library blog.  We are really excited to begin blogging about the school and the world, as well as publishing ideas, news, and thoughts that will challenge, enlighten, and inspire you.

At the top right of this page, you’ll find other pages in the blog:

  • the home page will have the latest posts in reverse chronological order–everything from book reviews (written by the MA community), to the news of the day, to myriad other fascinating and thought-provoking ideas.
  • The What, How, and Why page, this page, tells about what this blog is and how to use… actually, just read on and see for yourself.
  • Next is the Events page and where you can read about what’s happening on campus and in the MA community.
  • Ever wonder about whether to use a webpage for a reference citation? You’re in luck! We’ve written an Evaluating Websites page which has some guidelines for evaluating resources you’ve found on the web. Along the right side we’ve included links to resources elsewhere online.
  • Last we have the Comment Guidelines page; this page is a friendly reminder of appropriate online behavior, e.g. netiquette.

On the top right, you’ll find a Category Cloud which will help you find exactly what you’re looking for in the blog (just click a category, and you’ll see displayed a list of posts that relate to it). The blog also lists several links to useful MA pages and sites: The MA homepage, our Facebook page (become a fan!), the library’s catalog, online book reviews from the Atlantic Monthly to Teen Ink, and a link to MALibrary’s Delicious links page.

We’ve also listed some other terrific online resources–please explore them and let us know what you think!

Contributing to the blog

We’ve got a lot here, but what we’d really like is to hear more from you!  You can comment on any post, ask questions, make recommendations, or submit reviews for books, websites, or online resources. For comments, just click the “leave a comment” link at the top left of every post, and if you’d like to see some of your reviews on the blog, please send your writing to tcalvert@ma.org for consideration. We really want to learn more about what you think, so let’s get a conversation going!
