Chinese Railroad Workers Display

In conjunction with the Brizendine Scholar’s program and the World Languages Department, the library is sponsoring an exhibit about the role Chinese workers played in the construction of the transcontinental railroads. The exhibit comes to the school via the Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA) and will be on the MA campus until December 1st.

The exhibit consists of seven panels:  The Chinese and the Iron Road, Building of the Transcontinental, Hiring of Laborers, Dangerous Working Conditions, Discrimination & Sinophobia, Accomplishments and Completion of the Transcontinental.  Collectively, they help explain the important role the Chinese played in this significant event in American history.
